What water park equipment actually costs

Budget ranges by project scale, what moves a price up or down, and the costs that sit outside the equipment quotation entirely.

This is the question we are asked first and the one almost no supplier answers publicly. The reason is understandable — every project is different and nobody wants to be held to a number. But a developer trying to decide whether an aquatic feature belongs in a scheme at all needs an order of magnitude, not a contact form.

So here are working ranges. They are equipment supply figures in AED, ex-works or delivered as noted, based on the range we supply. They are not quotations, and a real quotation will differ once your plot, specification and destination are known.

Ranges are indicative equipment supply costs only. They exclude civil works, plant, freight and duty — see below.

What sits outside the equipment price

This is where aquatic budgets go wrong. The equipment is frequently less than half the delivered project cost, and the items below are usually quoted by other parties.

Civil works

Pools, decks, foundations, channels and tanks. Built by your contractor. On a play structure or splash pad this commonly runs 40–80% of the equipment value. On a wave pool or lazy river the civil works usually exceed the equipment cost, sometimes substantially — you are building a large watertight structure.

Plant and water treatment

Pumps, filtration, balance tanks, dosing, pipework and the plant room to hold it. Budget 15–30% of equipment value for a splash pad, more for anything with a large water volume. A recirculating splash pad costs considerably more here than a drain-to-waste one, and costs less to run — the crossover point in the UAE is usually within two seasons given water tariffs.

Freight and duty

Water park equipment is bulky and light, so it prices by volume rather than weight. A mid-size play structure is typically two to four 40 ft high cube containers. As a working figure, allow 8–15% of equipment value delivered to a UAE or GCC port, and 12–25% to most African ports. GCC common external tariff on this equipment category is typically 5%, but confirm the classification for your destination.

Installation

We are a supply business and do not install. Your contractor or a specialist installer handles assembly. Allow 10–20% of equipment value, more if the manufacturer's supervision is required on site.

Shade

Easy to forget and not optional in the Gulf. Unshaded fibreglass and deck surfaces reach temperatures that close an attraction through the middle of the day for much of the year. Shade structures over a splash pad frequently cost as much as the water features themselves.

What moves an equipment price

  • Height. Tower height drives structural steel, foundations, staircase and pump head all at once. A 12 m platform is not 33% more than a 9 m one.
  • Footprint. Longer flumes mean more fibreglass, more supports and more water in circulation.
  • Rider capacity. A four-person raft slide needs a far wider flume and deeper pool than a single-rider one.
  • Theming. Standard colours are the baseline. Sculpted themed elements are hand-finished and can add 20–50% to a play structure.
  • Order size. Container efficiency is real. Two structures shipped together cost materially less per unit than two shipped separately.
  • Certification scope. Testing to a specific standard for a specific market carries cost, and it is cheaper specified at order than retrofitted.

A realistic all-in multiplier

For early feasibility work, take the equipment figure and multiply by 2.0 to 2.8 for a delivered, installed, operational attraction in the UAE. Lower end for a splash pad on an existing slab, higher end for anything requiring a new pool.
